Did you know there are 3 genders of Marijuana plants? Yes, Marijuana plants can be male, female or hermaphrodite. The plants grow until the time comes for reproduction, then we will identify sex, and It's good to know that the most vanishing plants that grow faster will be male.
The sex matters a lot to the grower, because only female Cannabis plants make buds, the reason why the beginners are recommended for feminine seeds.
It's so simple to observe. Look at the internodes, the links between the branches and the stem, you will find, apart from the base of the branch, two balls, sharp at the top. From each ball, called "calyxes", go out 2 pistils, like 2 white yarns. Hundreds of calyxes come into the formation of the bud. They are the basis of the first flowers, called in popular terms "Pre-Flowers". The pollinated females no longer produce THC, they produce seeds. The result being a plant with a small amount of THC, but with a very large amount of seeds.
The male plant can be identified very simply. If you look at the interlocks that connect the branches with the main stem, at the right time, they will appear like some kind of small balls in which the pollen is stored. Usually there are more balls in the same place, if there is only one ball, you can not be sure it is the male, so you have to wait. Acidity in soil and water develops males. If you do not grow seed plants, males should be removed as soon as they appear. Take care, it is very easy to pollinate all the female females in the room if you forgot to remove a male from the ground. To avoid pollination of females, males should be observed in the first, maximum 2, the week of the blooming period.
Plants may be genetically hermaphrodite or may acquire hermaphroditism because of external mutagens. Having both sexes, they can pollinate their own flowers, but also the other females in the room.
Cannabis plants go through two stages of life, the “vegetative” stage and the “flowering stage.” When your cannabis plant is about to reveal it’s gender, what you’re looking for is cannabis “pre-flowers.” These usually show up when the plant is around 6 weeks old from seed, but they always appear once the plant is changed over to the flowering stage.
Methods Of Determining Sex
A plant will show its sex in the first two weeks of blooming. The plant that was kept at 12/12 light, after entering the early blooming stage, if we change the light cycle to 18h day / 6h night, re-entering the vegetation stage. But this process of reintroduction into vegetation produces stress.
The Bag Method
When a plant is in the vegetation stage, if on a branch of the plant we place a bag through which the light does not penetrate, so only that branch to simulate the blossoming photoperiod. So, every day for 2 weeks, we'll have to apply the paper bag for 12 hours on that branch.
Blooming A Clone Method
This method is very simplistic and most successful, if you handle how cloning or clogging. Cut off a herb that you want to make her sex (preferably you would cut 2 seedlings / clones if one of them does not survive) and sit on a 12/12 photo period for 2 weeks. So you're going to force the sliced clones to bloom. You must have them for at least 2 weeks until they are in the early stages of blooming.
